Custom software built around how your business works.
Off-the-shelf tools force you to change your process to fit the software. We build the opposite — purpose-built business applications, internal tools and workflow systems designed around the way your team already operates, then integrated with the systems you already use.
What custom software solves that off-the-shelf cannot.
Custom software is not about building something new for the sake of it. It is about removing the friction that comes from forcing your business into a tool that was not designed for it.
Fits your workflow
The software adapts to your process, not the other way around. No more forcing a real workflow into a rigid template because the tool does not support it.
Integrates with your stack
Connects to the accounting, CRM, email and payment systems you already use — so data moves between them automatically instead of being re-keyed by hand.
You own it
Code, documentation and infrastructure configuration are handed over to you. You are not renting access to software you cannot inspect, export or take with you.
Scales with the business
Add users, roles, workflows, reporting or integrations as the business grows — without being forced into a higher pricing tier for features you already paid for once.
Data you can actually see
Dashboards, exports and reports built around the questions you need answered — not the ones the vendor decided to include in their standard package.
No vendor lock-in
You are not tied to a subscription that can double its price at renewal, or to a vendor that can shut down the product you depend on without warning.
Custom vs off-the-shelf.
Custom software is not always the right answer. Here is the honest breakdown of when each option makes sense.
Use an existing product
If a well-known product already does most of what you need at a reasonable cost, building from scratch is usually a waste of money and time.
- Your process closely matches how mainstream tools already work
- You need something live in days, not months
- The features you need are standard, not unusual
- You do not have the budget for ongoing development
- You do not want to maintain or support software yourself
Build it specifically for you
Custom software is worth the investment when the cost of forcing your business into the wrong tool is higher than the cost of building the right one.
- Your workflow is genuinely different from how existing tools operate
- You are paying for features you will never use
- Your team is working around the software instead of with it
- You need specific integrations that generic tools do not support
- The software you rely on has become a competitive limitation
Our honest position: if off-the-shelf is the better answer for your situation, we will say so. We would rather point you at the right tool than build something that does not need to be built.
Software we build most often.
Every project is different, but most custom software work falls into one of these categories.
Business applications
Web-based applications that replace spreadsheets, manual processes and disconnected tools with one system the whole team uses.
Client portals
Secure logins where your clients can view documents, submit information, track progress or pay — instead of emailing back and forth.
Internal tools
Admin systems, job tracking, stock control, quoting tools and other internal software that replaces manual workflows.
Workflow systems
Systems that route tasks, approvals, escalations and handoffs between people and departments — with visibility at each stage.
Bespoke reporting
Dashboards and reports built around the specific numbers your business actually tracks — not the ones a template decided to include.
Integrations & APIs
Connections between your existing systems — CRM, accounting, payment providers, email, or third-party services — so data flows automatically.
A staged delivery, not a black box.
Software projects fail when nobody sees anything until the end. We deliver in stages so you always know where the project stands.
Discover
We map the process, the users, the data and the systems involved before any code is written.
Scope
We agree what the first release will include, what is deferred, and what the cost and timeline look like.
Build
Development in short cycles with regular demos, so you see working software early, not just at the end.
Test & launch
Real-world testing, user training, data migration and a controlled launch — with rollback if anything goes wrong.
Support & grow
Optional ongoing support, monitoring and improvements as the business and its requirements evolve.
Custom software questions, answered.
The questions we are asked most often by businesses considering a custom build.
When does it make sense to build custom software instead of buying off-the-shelf?
Custom software makes sense when your process is genuinely different from how mainstream tools work, when you are paying for features you will never use, when off-the-shelf tools force awkward workarounds, or when the software you rely on is becoming a competitive limitation.
If a well-known product already does 80 to 90 percent of what you need at a reasonable cost, we will often tell you to use it rather than build.
How much does custom software development cost in South Africa?
Custom software is scoped per project, because the cost depends on the number of users, integrations, workflows, reporting requirements and how much of the process needs to be built from scratch.
We work in phases so you can see progress and cost before committing to the full build. A written estimate is provided after a discovery session, before development starts.
How long does a custom software project take?
A focused internal tool or workflow system can often be delivered in 6 to 12 weeks. Larger systems with multiple integrations, user roles and reporting layers typically run across several months.
We deliver in stages so you get usable functionality early rather than waiting for a single large launch.
Who owns the software once it is built?
You do. Code, documentation and infrastructure configuration for your project are handed over to you on completion.
You are not locked into us for future changes, although we are happy to provide ongoing support if you want it.
Can you integrate with the systems we already use?
Yes. Most custom software projects involve integrating with existing tools such as accounting systems, CRMs, email platforms, payment providers, or internal databases.
If a system has an API, we can usually connect to it. If it does not, we will tell you upfront what the limitations are.
Do you work with businesses that are not in Durban?
Yes. We are based in Durban and work with businesses across South Africa and internationally. Software projects are delivered remotely with regular check-ins, shared task boards and staged demos so you can see progress without being in the same room.
What happens after the software goes live?
After launch we offer optional ongoing support for bug fixes, enhancements, monitoring and small feature additions.
Many clients start with a support agreement and then move to ad-hoc work once the system is stable and their team is comfortable with it.
What technology stack do you use?
We choose the stack based on the problem, not the other way around. In practice, most projects use modern web technologies with a relational database and cloud hosting.
We avoid exotic or poorly supported technologies because they become a liability for you when maintenance is needed years later.
Let's talk about the problem, not the code.
